Elhammamy Wins in Paris Montmartre PSA 15K 2025
Nadien Elhammamy underlined her credentials as one of the most exciting young stars of the women’s game with her biggest career title to date, winning the Paris Montmartre PSA 15K 2025, beating former World No.2 Camille Serme in the final.
The 17-year-old Egyptian, who burst onto the scene two years ago by winning the title in her very first Challenger event, was unseeded for this event in the French capital, despite having won the African World Championship Qualifying Event in April.
She eased past Elise Romba in round one, though, before coming out on top of a thrilling all-Egyptian duel with Nour Megahed 24 hours later, overturning a 2-1 deficit to win 11-9 in the fifth after more than an hour.
Another 3-0 win over Ambre Allinckx in the last eight was followed by a semi-final success over No.2 seed Sin Yuk Chan, setting up a mouthwatering final against 36-year-old Serme.
Playing on her home courts at the unique and characterful Squash Montmartre, Serme had the full backing of the Parisian crowd and was seeking a second win of the season against Elhammamy, having beaten the Egyptian en route to glory in November’s PSA Des Hauts De France – Wam.
The two players are separated by almost 20 years in age, but it was teenager Elhammamy who came out on top after game one, taking it 11-7, only for Serme to fight back in a tense game two, closing it out 14-12 to the delight of the home crowd.
Another 11-7 success for Elhammamy in game three put her 2-1 in front, but the crowd had plenty of hope for another Serme fightback as she forced another tiebreak in the fourth.
This time, though, she would be unable to get over the line and send the match into a decider, with Elhammamy wrapping up victory, 13-11, clinching her second title of the season, and her third overall on the PSA Squash Tour.
